What Are The Major Types Of Shark Attack?
Although shark attacks come few and far between and you shouldn't be afraid to go shark diving it is worth noting some of the different types of shark attacks that can occur just in case you find yourself in the waters by yourself with a load of sharks swimming around you.
Provoked Attacks
This is the one that is of course caused by the people touching the sharks. A shark will go to bite if you are trying to remove a net or hook for them, accidental catches is usually how this happens. This kind of attack is understandable as they are just trying to protect themselves. Attacks have also happened when divers grab sharks or try to feed them.
No Reason For Attack
Hit And Run
A lot of these attacks will happen near the shoreline as it is where the sharks attack. If the currents are strong, the water is murky or in bad weather the sharks may actually mistake a human being for something else like food for example. When this happens you will find that they grab you and then let go and leave once they taste you are not food. The lower parts of the body are usually the ones that get bitten here.
Sneak Attacks
These types of attacks take place in deep waters where the professional divers are going to be and the diver has no idea the shark is coming. A stray human is easy prey if the shark is really desperate for food and this is why they do it.
Bump And Bite
This actually happens because the shark bumps into the victims before they go in for the kill. They do this to try and disorientate their prey and this will be done so they can get in for a quick kill.
The main thing to remember if diving in Egypt or Maldives diving is to respect the ocean and to not swim anywhere near where you know dangerous sharks may be lurking. If you like shark diving then just make sure you in a large group.
